“Always…Patsy Cline”
has enjoyed great success all over the United States, including a successful
run off-Broadway. It has been one of the most produced musicals in America
according to American Theatre Magazine.
“Always…Patsy Cline”
is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically
at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story
about Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who
befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence
with Cline until her death.
The musical play,
complete with down home country humor, true emotion and even some audience
participation, includes many of Patsy's unforgettable hits such as "Crazy,"
"I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams." and "Waking After Midnight"…27 songs
in all. The show's title was inspired by Cline's letters to Seger,
which were consistently signed "Love ALWAYS... Patsy Cline.”

directed by Jennifer Houlihan
Benefiting the Family Crisis Center
Thursday, April 22, 2010 7 p.m.
From the author's website, "...an award-winning
play, and is based on V-Day Founder/playwright Eve Ensler's interviews
with more than 200 women. With humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s
sexuality and strength. Through this play and the liberation of this one
word, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their
bodies and their lives."
Hailed by The New York Times as "funny"
and "poignant" and by The Daily News as "intelligent" and "courageous,"
this series of monolgues explores the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom,
outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences.
Last year, more than 4,200 communities
hosted V-Day benefits, raising funds and demanding an end to the violence
that affects one in three women in the U.S and around the world.
These highly successful events – from Zagreb to Santa Barbara, from London
to Seattle, from Jerusalem to Oklahoma City – raised more than $4 million
through performances of The Vagina Monologues and others of Ensler’s works.
They also educated millions of people about the reality of violence against
women and girls.
V-Day Bastrop will present its benefit
production at the Bastrop Opera House on Thursday, April 22, 2010.
Proceeds will benefit V-Day and the Family Crisis Center, the expert resource
and service provider in eliminating domestic and sexual violence in Bastrop,
Colorado, Fayette and Lee Counties.
V Day Bastrop is a local effort within
the worldwide context of the
2010 V-Day
Campaign. To learn more call 512.629.5995 or e-mail jennifer@jenniferinc.com.
