BASTROP Touring Troupe for Festival Performers:

  • Limited rehearsals early in the semester. Currently they are scheduled for the days marked in orange above.
  • Performs twice extremely early at Hillcrest Elementary school in Del Valle, 6910 E. William Cannon, Austin, Texas.
  • No rehearsals from March 12 - April 30.
  • Perform the first weekend in June at the Bastrop Opera House.
  • Perform at the Youth Festival June 8 -12 in College Station along with 14 other youth companies from around the state.
  • Parents attend the festival with their child unless they can find another approved adult to be responsible for their child at the festival!
  • The festival fee will need to be made payable to TNT.  It does not include the performer and parent's room, board, travel expenses or the parent's festival fee of $70.

  • $25 deposit needed to register.
Bastrop Trouring Troupe:  Will rehearse in Bastrop.  ALL the troupe members are homeschooled, so rehearsals will happen during the weekday.

Read the info below and register.  This is the Trouring Troupe page where all updates will be posted.

More Details for BASTROP Participants: PLEASE READ

    • Performances are Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5 at a time to be determind.
    • Combined cast, crew, and family party after the last show on Sunday June 5, location to be determined.
    • Parents or caregivers may quietly observe during rehearsals.
    • Actors must wear comfortable clothing, bring a pencil, and bring a bottle of water with the actor's name on it to every rehearsal.
    • Show chosen is Wonderland!
    • Weekly Rehearsal location: Bastrop Opera House Studio, the yellow building immediately behind the theater.  711 Spring Street, Bastrop, Texas.  Unless notified otherwise.
    • Performance location:  Bastrop Opera House, 711 Spring Street, Bastrop, Texas.  Also College Station, and Hillcrest Elementary school in Austin.
    • Absences
      • While being at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory, we know illness and emergencies happen.  We expect that if and actor is sick that they stay home, but call the director.  Actors must be fever, diarrhea, and vomiting free for 24 hours before coming to a rehearsal.
      • The director will consider each case individually to determine if missed rehearsal will keep a actor from performing his role.
      • We must be informed at registration if there are ANY rehearsal or performance conflicts.
    • MONEY:
      • We will discuss this as a group when we meet on January 23.
      • In our attempt to make this experience affordable, we keep optional expense like tickets and costumes separate from registration fees.
      • These fees do not cover the cost of the project!  We expect everyone to sell tickets and program ads for the show!
      • Everyone in the audience must have a ticket.
      • You provide your costume which you already have.

    I'll update this section later.
Ignore the payment links below.  Here is how we are doing fees.
I'm donating my time, but parents are covering the expenses of this venture.
Checks for TNT fees will be written to TNT and delivered to me by March 11, 2011, so that I can send them to TNT.
Parents will raise money to cover the rest of the fixed group expenses, by selling ads, tickets, and having fundraisers.
Then if there are any remaining amount that needs to be covered, parents agree to split those expenses and cover the costs.

One reason that this theatre festival and conference workshop is reasonably priced is because parents make arrangements for their lodging, meals, transportation, and are responsible for getting their children to and from the festival events.

We've taken EASY Theatre Youth Troupes to this wonderful festival in the past.  Parents found it preferable to arrange their own accommodations.  This ranged from camping, staying with relatives, to sharing hotel rooms with other participants.  Traditionally most of our Youth Troupe parents attend the festival with their children, or vacation in the same city while their children attend the festival. By giving families the ability to make their own accommodation arrangements and keep their children with them, allows families to control their expenses. Where the children stay is almost immaterial, since almost all their time is spent at festival events.

Parents and non-participating family members may purchase tickets to individual performance blocks (around $8-10) A better buy is the all festival pass for $70 which includes all the shows and workshops, plus the Awards Ceremony and Brunch on Sunday.

Parents will be given info on the age appropriateness of each play and will choose which shows they wish their children to see.  Directors, cast, and crew sit together during shows.  Parents, guests, and siblings may also sit with us.  If your child isn't attending a show, they need to be with you.  In the past there has been one show per year which contained themes which I felt were appropriate for my teen, but not my younger child.  I left my teen with another parent and took my younger child back to the hotel for a nap and a swim.

In the past the amount of parental involvement has ranged from sending their child to the campus with another parent and attending only their child's show, all the way to staying with and guiding their child to each workshop, meal, and play.  There have also been parents who sent their child with another family for the event.  Often it depends on the age of the child and the wishes of the parent.  For example:  My teen (like most of the participants there) got himself to all his classes, plays, rehearsal, and meals; while I took my 5 year old to all her events.

    Page up for more info.

If parents want a t-shirt it is $13.
Linda Lee takes photos at the conference and if you want a CD it is $16 PayPal and she will mail it to you after the conference.
