Engela Edwards
Director Engela Edwards has a BFA in Theater.  Engela started doing shows in Bastrop in 2001.  Since that time she’s produced and co-produced 23 productions at the Bastrop Opera House, including 14 world premieres; some of which she wrote or co-wrote with john daniels, jr.  Since 1999, Engela has produced 40 production (including 23 world premières) with her company EASY Theatre which has performed in 32 venues.  Engela Edwards theatre resumes: Acting  / Technical / Directing / Other

TUESDAYS

Alice in Wonderland Song and Dance (Teens)
INSTRUCTOR: Engela Edwards

These classes will be rehearsing a musical numbers for a musical version of Alice in Wonderland with choreographer Engela Edwards. 
No classes during spring break.  Different number taught in each session.  Come to one or both sessions, plus additional Tech, Dress, and Performance dates. Price includes rehearsal CD.  You provide your costume.

Sessions 1 and 2: 
Ages: 12-18
Time: 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. for the Middle school rehearsals.
Dates: 

Session 1: Tuesdays, Feb. 24 to March 31 rehearsals at Bastrop Middle School. Wear your costume and makeup to rehearsal on March 31

Session 2: Tuesdays, April 7 – May 5 rehearsals  at Bastrop Middle School. Wear your costume and makeup to rehearsal on May 5

Tech rehearsals:  Evenings June 2 & 25 Bastrop Opera House with cast 

Dress rehearsals:  Evenings June 16 & 18 Bastrop Opera House with cast 

Performances:  June 19, 20, 26, 27, 28; Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30, Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bastrop Opera House

Fee:  $50 per session.  You can register now by calling Bastrop Community Ed at (512) 308-1601.  Starting January 1, you can register online. Also you can sign up to have a Bastrop Community Ed catalogue mailed to you when they become available.

Alice in Wonderland Cast (Adults)
INSTRUCTOR: Engela Edwards

This is a rehearsal class ending in performances of a musical version of Alice in Wonderland.  Teaching director Engela Edwards designed this course so busy adults have an opportunity to perform. This fun project is perfect for performers of every experience level.  Engela has a BFA in theater and has directed 39 play and musical productions.  Price includes script, rehearsal CD, and two tickets!  You provide your talent, energy, positive attitude, dedication, and costume. 

Ages:  18 up. 
Time:  6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Dates: 

• Weekly rehearsals:  Tuesday Feb. 24 to May 26 at Bastrop Middle School (No rehearsals or classes during Spring Break week! March 16-23)
• Costume:  Wear your costume and makeup to rehearsal on April 7. 
• Tech rehearsals:  June 2 & 25 Evenings at the Bastrop Opera House

Song and Dance

This class is for performers who love to sing and dance and don't mind lots of repetition.  They will rehearse a number to be performed in the adult song and dance musical review.

Time:  8-9 a.m.

Wednesdays, Feb. 25 – April 8 (no rehearsals March 18)

Wear your costume and makeup to rehearsal on March 25

Daily Dress rehearsals  April 13 – 16 

Eight Performances - Friday and Saturday April 17 – May 9, 7:30 p.m.

Pickup rehearsals Thursdays, April 22, 29, and May 6 early evening.

Fee:  $100 ($50 if taking a Show class)

1st-year Student Show

Wednesdays, Feb. 25 – April 8 (no rehearsals March 18)

Daily Dress rehearsals  April 13 – 16 

Eight performances - Friday and Saturday April 17 – May 9, 7:30 p.m.

Touring Show (need permission to register - call 303-5516)

Time:  1-3 p.m.

Fee:  $120 class fee + $10 script fee + $80 festival fee + $ ? for room and board for 5 days 4 nights in Brenham.

After-School Student Show: 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. ages 5-99

Steps to register for Engela's Wednesday Rehearsal Classes:

Make deposit or pay in full below.

Complete and return by email the registration form we email you after you make your deposit.

If you need forms for a payment plan or a work scholarship, email Engela with your full contact information, and return completed forms.

If you have completed these steps, then you're registered and your Wednesday rehearsal slot is secure. 
If you have not paid a $30 deposit and therefore committed to the entire semester fee, or if you haven't filled out payment plan or scholarship forms and returned them, then you're slot is NOT secure.  Engela had a waiting list last semester, so this is the only fair way to do this.

Spring Break:  March 16-20, May 13

Weekly Rehearsal location:  Bastrop Opera House Studio, the yellow building immediately behind the theater.  711 Spring Street, Bastrop, Texas.

Performance and Final week location:  Bastrop Opera House, 711 Spring Street, Bastrop, Texas.

Absences: 

While being at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory, we know illness and emergencies happen.  We expect that if and actor is sick that they stay home, but call the director.  Actors must be fever, diarrhea, and vomiting free for 24 hours before coming to a rehearsal. 

Director will consider each case individually to determine if missed rehearsal will keep a actor from performing his role. 

Director must be informed at registration if there are ANY rehearsal or performance conflicts. 

• Dress Rehearsal and Performance week/s: These are daily rehearsals.  See individual shows for details. 
• Performances: See individual shows for dates and details. 

 
MONEY:

• Enrolling: 
• Pay the $30 non-refundable deposit due at registration by clicking the deposit button. This will hold your place in the cast/class/rehearsal slot.  You are committing to paying the entire semester fee.
• A registration form will be emailed to you for you to complete and return after you have paid your deposit.  When you pay and return your form then you will be registered.  (Or after you've returned work scholarship forms and your registration form, then you will be considered registered.)
• Full payment of the balance is due by the first day of rehearsals, unless a payment plan has been arranged in advance.  $25 late fee if not paid (or written payment arrangements made) by the first day of rehearsals. 
• You will provide your costume which must be completely ready and worn to rehearsal on the date noted in class description. 
• Work scholarships and payment plans can be arranged.  Contact Engela at 303-5516 for more information. 
• Cancellations:

When you register for a rehearsal slot, you are committing to the whole fee.
• In our attempt to make this experience affordable, we keep optional expense like video, tickets, and costumes, separate from registration fees.  These fees do not cover the cost of the project, so we will expect you to sell tickets and program ads for the show.
• Parents or Caregivers: May quietly observe during rehearsals.  Some shows may have adult rolls.  If you would like to be considered for one of those roles, let the director know.  If you are cast, you must attend all rehearsals and performances.

Everyone in the audience is required to have a ticket.
